The Story of Castello Barone: Vision, Vineyard, and Craft

Every vineyard has a beginning, but Castello Barone’s beginning reads more like a calling. Scott and Elizabeth Barone felt led to create something rooted in faith, grounded in family, and committed to serving others. That calling brought them to the foothills of Swan Creek, where rolling vines meet the Blue Ridge breeze.

A vision born from heritage

With Italian and French blood running through their veins, wine was always part of the family table. But it wasn’t just the wine. It was the gathering. The laughter. The prayer. The gratitude. Wine was a connector, not a product.

Scott and Elizabeth wanted to preserve that feeling.

A vineyard built on faith

Before a shovel touched the ground, they prayed over the land. They walked the rows with purpose. They asked God to bless the work of their hands and the people who’d someday walk among the vines.

Every grape, every harvest, every bottle reflects that prayer.

A mission shaped by service

As veterans, Scott and Elizabeth understand discipline, dedication, and stewardship. Winemaking demands all three. It’s hard work. It’s heart work. It’s service.

Their Court of Master Sommeliers Foundations training gave them technical expertise. Their faith gave them meaning.
