Some wins feel especially good. This is one of them.
Castello Barone Vineyards and Winery has been recognized in the 2025 Southeast
Regional Winemaker Challenge, earning top honors among dozens of wineries and
hundreds of entries from across the region. It’s the kind of recognition that invites
reflection, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for the journey that led here.
Not just the wines.
The people.
The land.
The values.
This recognition isn’t about chasing medals. It’s about being seen for staying true to who
we are.
What the Southeast Regional Winemaker Challenge Represents
The Southeast Regional Winemaker Challenge is one of the most respected competitions
in the region, bringing together producers from across the Southeast to showcase their
best work. Wines are evaluated by experienced judges over several days of focused,
spirited tasting. Every medal reflects not just quality, but intention and consistency.
With hundreds of wines submitted across multiple categories, earning recognition here
means standing out in a crowded, talented field. It’s a snapshot of where Southeast
winemaking is today and where it’s headed.
To be part of that story is an honor.

Our 2025 Medal Winners
This year, Castello Barone was honored with three medals, each representing a different
expression of our vineyard, our philosophy, and our commitment to craft.
Best in Class Double Gold Sparkling Wine
2023 Sparkling Rosé
Best in Class Double Gold is the highest honor awarded in a category, and our 2023
Sparkling Rosé earned that recognition among an exceptional group of sparkling wines.
This wine is joyful by design. Bright, balanced, and expressive, it’s crafted to elevate
moments both big and small. Whether it’s a celebration, a quiet evening, or a shared meal,
this Sparkling Rosé was created to bring people together.
The recognition confirms what we’ve always believed. When you take your time, respect
the process, and let the wine lead, something special happens.
Gold Medal
2023 Petit Manseng
Petit Manseng is a variety that rewards patience and precision, and the 2023 vintage
delivered on both. Earning a Gold Medal, this wine reflects careful vineyard management,
thoughtful harvesting decisions, and intentional winemaking from start to finish.
It’s expressive without being overpowering. Structured without being rigid. A wine that
invites conversation and rewards those who slow down and spend time with it.
Bronze Medal
2022 Setoso
The 2022 Setoso rounded out our recognition with a Bronze Medal. This wine represents
consistency and integrity across vintages and styles, reminding us that excellence isn’t
about a single moment. It’s about showing up year after year with the same commitment to
quality.
Faith, Family, and Service at the Heart of It All
Castello Barone was built on simple, enduring principles. Faith. Family. Service.
Faith in the land. Faith in the process. Faith in one another. Faith that doing things the right
way matters, even when no one is watching.
From our military service to our service to our community, we carry the same mindset into
everything we do. Show up with purpose. Do the work right. Take care of people. That
sense of responsibility shapes how we farm, how we craft our wines, and how we welcome
every guest through our doors.
This isn’t a slogan. It’s a way of life.
Family isn’t just who we gather with at the end of the day. It’s the team who works side by
side in the vineyard and cellar. It’s the guests who return year after year and bring friends
along. It’s the community that has supported this dream from the very beginning.
Service shows up in the details. Caring for the land entrusted to us. Respecting the craft
and the traditions that came before us. Creating a space where people feel welcomed,
valued, and connected.
Whether it’s a first visit or a familiar face, every experience is an opportunity to serve well.
These medals don’t change that mission. They affirm it.
Honoring the Southeast Wine Community
This year’s competition was a true celebration of Southeast winemaking. With wineries
submitting hundreds of wines across categories ranging from sparkling and white wines to
reds, fortified wines, fruit wines, and beyond, the diversity and talent on display were
remarkable.
The Southeast continues to prove that great wine isn’t confined to a single region or
tradition. It’s shaped by people who care deeply about their land, their craft, and their
community.
We extend heartfelt thanks to Libation Magazine and the Wine, Beer and Spirits Awards
for the recognition and for creating a platform that celebrates craftsmanship, integrity, and
the stories behind each bottle. Being acknowledged by judges who understand both
tradition and innovation makes this honor especially meaningful.
We also congratulate all the other medal recipients whose dedication
continues to raise the bar for Southeast wines.
Why Recognition Matters, and Why It Isn’t the Point
Awards matter because they reflect accountability. They confirm that what’s happening
behind the scenes is translating into quality in the glass.
But awards aren’t the goal.
Connection is.
Wine has always been about more than flavor. It’s about people gathering. Stories being
shared. Time slowing down just enough to be present.
At Castello Barone, every bottle is an invitation. To sit longer. To talk more. To reconnect
with what matters.
This recognition reminds us that when you lead with values, craftsmanship follows.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude
We’re proud of these wines. We’re grateful for this recognition. And we’re deeply thankful
for everyone who has been part of this journey.
The growers.
The team.
The community.
The guests who believed in us before the medals arrived.
This moment belongs to all of you.
Come Share in the Celebration
Awards are never the goal. Connection is.
If you’ve already shared these wines with friends and family, thank you for being part of our
story. If you haven’t yet, we’d love to welcome you.
Come taste the wines that earned a Best in Class Double Gold, a Gold, and a Bronze. Pull
up a chair, raise a glass, and celebrate faith, family, service, and the joy of good wine
shared together.
We’ll save you a seat.
